Join us at the European Sustainable Energy week
RUGGEDISED will take part in a policy session
6 June 2018

Do you want to shape the future of energy in Europe ? Are you interested in the impact of "Smart cities" solutions on citizens? Join RUGGEDISED in a policy session organised during the European Sustainable Energy week (EUSEW) on: "The contribution of energy smart solutions to social cohesion in cities".

Lighthouse cities are leading the transition to a sustainable future with innovative solutions, in great part related to energy. These (potentially disruptive) changes have very direct effects on citizens: on their living conditions, the price of energy, the planning of neighbourhoods, the creation of new skilled jobs.

This session will look at the impact of smart energy solutions on social cohesion through the experience and best practices of European projects. From the planning to the implementation of smart energy solutions, the session will propose ideas to think and integrate the impact of these measures on citizens.

This session will address questions such as: What social benefits do energy-related solutions have in smart districts? How can people afford these new technologies ? What solutions can digitalisation and data collection offer ? How does it affect the quality of life of citizens, both at home and at work? How can people participate in /take ownership of these new smart solutions ?

Experiences of Lighthouse cities projects will give perspectives on the implementation of smart districts in cities such as Glasgow, Umeå and Florence.

Sign-up here on the EUSEW website to join us on June 6.

November 2018
Smart City Expo Barcelona
13 - 15 November 2018
Barcelona, Spain

Since 2011, Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) has been an unmissable event combining the latest solutions and technologies, and inspirational keynotes on improving life in cities. In 2018, the event intends to reflect on what makes a city livable, what happens when "gentrification" changes the whole social character of a neighborhood, and how sharing can transform the way it operates so that it can become more sustainable, resilient, inclusive and, of course, smarter with a focus on people. To do so, this year's edition will concentrate on five main topics responding to the key issues facing cities: Digital Transformation, Urban Environment, Mobility, Governance & Finance, and Inclusive & Sharing Cities. This dynamic approach, together with an extended exhibition area full of real solutions, is expected to outnumber 2017 figures and reinforce the smart community all over the world.

RUGGEDISED will be present at the joint stand of the EU funded smart city projects (D498), with a number of Lighthouse cities taking part in workshops. Representatives from our Lighthouse cities of Rotterdam and Umeå will also be present at the Dutch and Nordic pavillion.
